Parenting Payment supports principal carers of a child under 8 years old (single) or under 6 years old (partnered). You must meet the income and assets tests and be an Australian resident.
How Much Do You Get?
The maximum rate is around $1,020 per fortnight for singles and $693 per fortnight for partnered carers (September 2025 estimates). Income above the free area reduces the payment by 50 cents per dollar.
Income Test
You can earn some income before the payment reduces β the calculator applies the standard free area and taper to estimate your payment. Assets are also tested, so your final rate can differ from the estimate.
